WhatsApp message templates

WhatsApp deliberately limits what you can send outside of an active conversation, to protect users from spam. Ariyes handles this with two modes.

Template vs. freeform

  • Template — a Meta-approved message template with variable slots you fill per contact. This is required when you're outside the 24-hour customer-service window.
  • Freeform — a free-text message, allowed only within 24 hours of the contact's last inbound message.

Managing templates

Manage your approved templates under Settings → WhatsApp → Templates. When you build a WhatsApp broadcast, you either choose a template and map its variables to contact fields (like first name), or write freeform if the window allows. Because template approval is controlled by Meta, prepare and get your key templates approved ahead of a campaign so they're ready when you need them.
